Several people who know me have noticed that I haven’t been wearing my corrective eye glasses lately. This is in an attempt to heal my eye sight naturally. There are various methods for doing this, but they all trace back to the observations of William Horatio Bates (December 23, 1860 – July 10, 1931) “an American physician who practiced ophthalmology and developed what became known as the Bates Method for better eyesight.”1 Though there is considerable skepticism about these methods, they are definitely worth investigating. Author Aldous Huxley (1894 – 1963) was a famous proponent of the Bates method and wrote a fascinating book entitled “The Art of Seeing“. If all you achieve is being skillful at the “art of seeing”, I’m certain your life will improve. I for one have already noticed some interesting things – whether this is due to actual physical organic changes in my eyes or the result of learning due to neuroplasticity in various relevant portions of my brain is of little concern to me – the relevant question is – can I see better than I did previously?
If you want more telling proof that these methods, take a look at Meir Schneider‘s eyes in the following two videos. Meir Schneider
is the founder of the School of Self-Healing located in San Francisco, California. He used Bates methods to help heal his own eyes. In this YouTube video, he appears on the television show Beyond The Line in 1988 where he explains his condition and how he changed it:
Have you ever wondered why athletic types in school (the “jocks”) appear to need corrective lenses less frequently than the overly studious types (the “book-worms”)? In the following video, Meir Schneider shares an exercise that gives a hint as to why this may be the case:
Is it possible to heal your own vision?
My personal opinion, based on what I’ve seen in other areas of health, is that yes, you can drastically improve your eyesight and vision, if only by learning and being skillful at the “art of seeing”. This is something to consider before seeking yet another pair of corrective lenses or expensive, potentially blinding, eye surgery. Whether you will achieve results as drastic as Meir Schneider is up to you.
A TOAST: To your perfectly healthy vision!
P.S. — A foundation for good vision and health in general is a super-healthy nutrient-dense diet.
