I recently wrote a guest post on TwiTip.com on Why You Should Consider Using Hashtags (in your Tweets). One of the reasons I suggested using hashtags is that there a many web applications that utilize hashtag data. By using hashtags, you potentially give your Twitter profile exposure through these apps. I thought I would provide a list of these apps as I come across them. Please note that this list is a work in progress — so please come back from time to time to check for any additions to the list. I hope you find this list of apps/websites that utilize hashtag data useful!
- Mentionmap Twitter network graph visualization tool from Asterisq.com. Find out how to explore your Twitter network with Mentionmap.
- Foller.me — “a Twitter service that can provide you with the most detailed information about a specific Twitter user in the least amount of time!”1
- tagdef: “Ever seen a hashtag on Twitter, and wondered what it is all about? Now you can look it up, and cast your vote on the definitions. And if you don’t like the definitions, or none exists, you can create your own in seconds.”2
- My Tweet Cloud: “My Tweet Cloud is a free service for users of Twitter allowing us to get a tag cloud generated with hastags (#tags) used in their last 200 tweets.” 3
- Twubs #hashtags made useful – “Twubs are Twitter groups built around content aggregated from #hashtags.”4
