The following quote is from ‘Get Smarter: Life and Business Lessons’ by Seymour Schulich (with Derek DeCloet). It says a lot about business strategy, so I thought I’d share it with you:
I always ask aspiring businesspeople: How do you beat Bobby Fisher, the renowned chess Champion of the 1970s?
The Answer: Play him at anything but chess.
Always ask, where do I have the edge? History is replete with examples of big business mistakes that could have been avoided if only the people in charge had answered that simple question.
